REGIME CHANGE IN BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA
AND WHERE DO WE GO FROM THERE
Joseph Y. Kim, Ph.D.
SAVE KOREA FOUNDATION
Soon after Donald Trump was elected as president of the U.S. he set the
policy of seeking the complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization of North Korea (CVID). He also established the Indo-Pacific Defense Line and its command.
From the presidency of Harry Truman in the 1950’s during the Korean War to the Obama administration, the U.S. has dealt with the divided Korean peninsula issue with rhetoric and politicizing, with no specific solution. Now President Trump has made a decisive resolution “to do something tangible” to settle the explosive “time bomb” of North Korea.
North Korea then began threatening the peace of the northeast Pacific region, eventually targeting the defense of U.S. territories in the Pacific. Since Trump’s election the U.S. is no longer merely engaging in rhetoric or political polarization. President Trump is treating this as a most serious issue, undertaking it as his own priority. He realizes that he needs an action plan for the Korean peninsula, as President Xi of PRC has begun covertly sending large amounts of warheads and other military aid to North Korea as part of his expansionism.
The division of the Korean peninsula after World War II in 1945 was imposed on the country as part of the international conflict between communism and capitalism. South and North Korea were victims of this irreconcilable ideological divide.
When a regime change occurs in North Korea and reunification begins, the citizens of both Koreas will need to be the leaders in forming a free democratic capitalist system.
THE NORTH KOREAN GENERAL PUBLIC IS SHIFTING THEIR POSITION TOWARD BEING PRO-TRUMP AFTER THE SINGAPORE AND HANOI SUMMITS
Two summits between Trump and Kim in Singapore and Hanoi in six months made a significant change among North Koreans’ public perception toward “Yankee U.S. imperialists” from thinking of them as enemies to seeing the U.S. as a gentle and peace-loving prosperous country. In this six months’ period North Korean public opinion has been radically tilted to being pro-American.
Information based on reports by the recently arrived North Korean refugees to South Korea is that people are more hungry and thirsty for outside news from which they have been cut off for the last 70 years. It certainly has become an international crime and human rights abuse.
North Koreans have been literally blocked from sharing international news as well as restricted to ideological propaganda continuously rerun from one television channel to brainwash them about the “honorable” Kim dynasty.
The outstanding rumors and speculations coming in from China and North Korean refugees in South Korea who daily communicate with their counterparts in their hometowns begin to stir up their frustration toward the sufferings and abuses of their human rights. Millions of people who engage in underground “jang ma dang” markets are actually aware of the fact that people in PRC, South Korea, and Japan live much better, with freedom and prosperity. Most of their goods in the market are smuggled in from these countries.
After the Hanoi summit Kim returned to Pyongyang to look for help from South Korea, PRC and Russia to find ways to survive. Kim then made a statement that he has enough to sustain economic survival until end of 2019.
The 21 st century strategy dealing with this rogue regime is to avoid military confrontation in order to minimize bloodshed and disaster among innocent people. Recently there are examples in the global community where the indigenous people on the local level rose against totalitarian dictators–Romanians in Bucharest, the end of the Soviet Union with Glasnost and Perestroika, insurrection by East Germany, the fall of Gaddafi in Libya. The next turn will be the fall of Kim’s cultic dynasty by the energy and power of local indigenous people whose human rights have been abused and they come to the point where they can no longer be passive while they are victimized with starvation.
The next step will be the termination of Moon’s presidency. His role in the past two years has caused significant damage to peace and order in the Northeast Pacific Rim. He has violated and betrayed the alliance relationship with the U.S. in dealing with PRC and North Korea for their benefit. Most conservatives both in South Korea as well as in the U.S. are keenly aware that he certainly has to pay the price for intentionally bringing the situation as self-appointed communist mediator between the U.S., PRC and North Korea.
At the present time he has made various different attempts to align with North Korea to bring about the peace of the peninsula at the cost of the U.N.
Security Council resolutions and sanctions. Most of the team that he handpicked are anti-American and pro-Pyongyang and Beijing. He made all efforts to reform Korea under baseless theories of historisity and identity of the Korean peninsula in a global setting.
In the international high-tech culture we need to mobilize whatever channel possible to infiltrate outside news into North Korea. Most of the North Koreans in the past 70 years have had their eyes and ears shut by the regime’s control and abuse.
Today however we have 23 million people’s hidden and silent indigenous energy and power, who are literally fed up with their unending abuse and dehumanization. Potentially these victims are eager to open their eyes and ears to find out what went wrong under the tyranny of oppression by the totalitarian Kim’s dynasty.
Prior to the enforcement of CVID by President Trump it’s time for him to let
these “blind and deaf slaves” see and hear good news from outside. With the media control and ideological brainwashing system in North Korea, people now are ever more eager and desperate to get news from outside since the 2 summit meetings were held between Trump and Kim. It’s time now that information and psychological approaches need to be supplied to all victims who have access to outside news while CVID in North Korea is underway.
These are some recommendations:
- They need to have radio or shortwave communication systems and
leaflets sent by balloons so that they will have access to listen to outside news and read leaflets that indicate that cultic deity of the Kim dynasty is fake and will soon be rooted out through CVID.
- Sending chips to add in cell phones as over 4 million people have cell phones
- The Voice of America in Korean language broadcasts
- South Korean news from conservative pro-American YouTube commentators in South Korea
- Utilize undisclosed information that is collected directly from hometown North Koreans to their relatives in South Korea who escaped from North Korea. There are over 36,000 North Korean refugees residing in South Korea. Some of these are from the elite class, such as ex-military generals, high-level diplomats, Labor Party executives, Secret Police officers and inner-circle members of Kim’s central government. These could give the most updated information that could be utilized in helping North Koreans to be rehabilitated and deprogrammed into the Free world.
- The regime change of the cultic deity of the Kim dynasty has to come through the local indigenous people who come to the conclusion that something tangible needs to take place by their own initiation to change the regime to being capitalist while CVID of North Korea is taking place by the end of 2019

HOW TO DEAL WITH MOON’S ERRATIC BEHAVIOR
During the Trump and Moon summit on April 11, 2019 with closed-door conferences among the top decision-making officials, including Secretary of State Pompeo, Kyung Hwa Kang, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, along with staff of NSC of the White House and NSC of the Blue House, the U.S. made it very clear that South Korean leaders need to quit playing games with PRC, North Korea and the U.S. They apparently made diplomatic and strategic demands that South Korea redirect from its pro-Beijing and Pyongyang direction to adhering to the U.N. sanctions while supporting Washington D.C. on its CVID policy and cooperating with the Indo-Pacific Command.
The U.S. made the bold request to Moon to clarify whether his affiliation is
with North Korea and PRC or with the U.S. Moon’s response remains to be seen to this day. Moon, his lieutenants at the Blue House and his administration are ideological psychopaths who hold an agenda and a standard of operational approach which is not much better than those of PRC and North Korean leaders.
Moon’s cohorts in who are in policymaking positions are amateurs who act like delusional teenagers lacking an objective professional “roadmap” for the future of the Korean peninsula. Since Moon’s takeover of South Korea, he and his team have just been angry agitators against U.S. strategy in northeast Asia. They not only detained and impeached legally elected President Park, but also imprisoned her for 2 years with a verdict that the judicial system cannot justify and prove.
Moon’s administration, the legislature, the members of the judiciary and the media together are in a game that they cannot win. After the Trump and Moon summit April 11-12, Moon’s traditional position as a middle-of-the-road negotiator between PRC, North Korea and the U.S. is practically finished. Saving face and retaining nationalism will only further his hidden agenda, which is out of touch in the theater of northeast Asia geopolitics.
Moon has been serving as an agitator and stumbling block in the process of unity and collaboration in disarming North Korea.
Moon’s team will be in disarray when Kim’s cultic totalitarian dynasty begins experiencing regime change. He received a clear message from Washington that Trump’s CVID policy and the Indo-Pacific Defense Line will transcend his leftist view. His hidden agenda has been exposed in the global community.
Moon during the closed door summit at the White House may have been questioned by the U.S. as in the past 2 years his ideological identity has been counterproductive not only to the U.N. Security Council’s sanctions but to the U.S.-Korean historic alliance spirit.
He took the unpardonable position of betraying the alliance relationship by changing his position to a pro-Pyongyang and Beijing position. During the Trump and Moon summit the U.S. administration likely demanded that Moon needed to clarify his adherence to the historic alliance trust relationship, as he on numerous occasions has violated U.N. sanctions by dealing with North Korea.
THE BEST WAY TO NEUTRALIZE MOON’S VOLUNTEER ROLE AS A MEDIATOR
Moon’s actions in the 2 years of his presidency have proven clearly that his strategy is disastrously dysfunctional and obviously inappropriate in the situational context of the region.
According to a leading Korean conservative YouTube commentator Bangmo Sung Hyun Park of the Center for Korean History and Culture, “The Washington Summit has been Moon’s diplomatic suicide.”
The ultimate solution to treat Moon’s identity is to work toward CVID of
North Korea and ignore and neutralize his self-appointed role as a negotiator or middleman between the U.S., North Korea and PRC. His middleman role will be rooted out after the fall of Kim’s and cultic dynasty, both by CVID and internal insurrection by the people. The remission of Kim’s incurable ideological cancer will take place after the fall of the regime. It takes both North and South Koreans to clean up the Kim and Moon regimes in order to rebuild a free democratic entrepreneurial nation aligned with the U.S. and its objective to bring world peace and reconciliation.
Peter Pyung Woo Kim, who served as the primary legal defender for President Park Geun Hye at the Constitutional Court in South Korea and is chairman of the Save Korea Foundation, stated “If Moon is not with Trump’s “Big Deal” to collaborate, he will be committing political suicide.”
Furthermore, Moon’s handpicked amateurs have been violating the 70- year-old alliance relationship with the U.S. and the U.N. resolutions by taking political positions that are pro-Beijing and Pyongyang and anti-American.
Moon and his team began imprisoning pro-American former presidents, 4 former KCIA directors, active and retired military generals and neutralizing the U.S./South Korean historic alliance relationship. In the past 2 years their actions have been closely watched and recorded by U.S. intelligence agencies. It is likely the specifics of their unscrupulous cheating and lies may have been dealt with during the closed door sessions at the White House on April 11.
Moon and his team have made enormous unilateral calculations which broke the international rules of law. Most of the U.S. political, military, and diplomatic infrastructure as well as conservative patriotic pro-American Koreans believe that Moon’s administration is no longer an asset working together as a team for CVID but that they are impediments to the peace of the northeast Asian region. Moon becomes the primary adversary of PRC and Kim of North Korea as long as South Korea becomes the target that they could have access in order to expand their power.
Historically, totalitarian dictators such as those in PRC and North Korea do not honor agreements or MOU’s that are commonly practiced SOP’s (standard operating procedures) in global society. They are however well known as those who break the rule of the international law in order to accomplish their objectives. It has been proven that South Korean leaders violated and betrayed trust and the historical relationship between the U.S. and South Korea as they have become more affiliated with Xi and Kim with their quest for expansionism.
South Korean conservatives and rehabilitated North Koreans will become indispensable in helping the U.S. and U.N. to resettle and readjust and deprogram people from both Moon’s and Kim’s regimes prior to and after the regime changes for both North and South Korea. It becomes imperative that the U.S. and the U.N. deprogram team need to “pick the brains” from those who have escaped from the totalitarian Kim dynasty and have had radical re-education for their “down to earth” testimony in process of restructuring both North and South Korea becoming strong components to support Trump’s strategy in northeast Asian theater.
