만사 ‘인과의 법칙’이 지배한다. 원인없는 결과가 없고, 세상만사가 서로 연결돼 있다는 얘기다. 일단 직관으로 바라보자. 이 문제는 하극상이 아니다. 하극상이라는 것은 상급자가 하급자에게 적법한 명령을 하달하는 데 대해서 부하되는 자가 여기에 불복하는 경우다. 국민의 대표기관인 국회에서 증언하는 자리요, 진실만을 말해야 하는 마당에, 상명하복이 거기 왜 나오는가? 미개한 소리는 치우고, 솔직해지자. 이 문제는 송영무라는 자가 거짓말을 하는 데 대해서 기무사령관과 기무부대장이 국회라는 헌법기관 앞에서 truth, nothing but the truth – 선서 증언하는 가운데 나온 episode – 말하자면, 진실과 사실을 토설한 경우로 봐서 무리가 없다. 이렇게 되면 송영무란 자가 죽일놈이 되는 건데, 기실 대한민국 국민들은 송영무에게 돌을 던질 자격부터가 없다. 고정간첩이 북의 지령을 받아서 나라를 들어엎고 국권을 탈취한 후 뻔뻔스럽게 대통령을 참칭하고 합법적인 국가원수를 잡아가두는 판에 거기 부화뇌동한 자들이 누군가? 국민들 아닌가. 그런 마당에 누가 누굴 탓하는가. 송영무의 과오가 30이라면 국민들의 과오는 100이다. 이 미개한 야만인들아. 그 땅에서 태어난 죄로 죽을 때까지 Korean American으로 살아야 하는 – 대한민국을 고국으로 둔 한사람으로 이렇게 창피할 수가 없다. 느들 전국민, 칠흙같은 공간에 들어가서 3박4일 동안, 누구랄 것이 없이, 만인의 만인에 의한 처절한 절차탁마가 필요한 것이 아닐까, 그런 생각까지 든다. 원문기사 링크
